First I would
like to thank my mom and my dad, my sponsor Verizon Pioneer, my coach Mr.
Longden, and all the scouts and adults who assisted in bringing my project to a
completion. When I look at my boy scouting career as a whole I often look back
to when I first joined the troop. I remember being shy and I often didn’t say
very much. But as I began to mature and increase in rank I began to feel the
need to share what I had learned with those around me. As time passed by I
became much more comfortable with the troop and began to take on leadership
positions. At first I wasn’t entirely sure of how I would help lead a group but
I began to realize that this all came from experience. There are many ways on
how you could chose to lead a group some ways might not work were as others may
work out well. Before I knew it I was a life scout ready to take the next step
onto becoming an eagle. The night before I began my Eagle Scout project I found
myself amidst a nerve racking feeling. I was worried that I was going to screw
up somehow, or not enough people would show up to help. I had some perspective
on how I was going to approach the project to a degree, but I was still
uncertain about different aspects of the project itself. Before I knew it
morning came and I could feel butterflies filling inside of me. When I arrived at the site I began to unload
the supplies and a sense of relief filled inside of me and I knew everything
would turn out fine as long as I lead the group to the best of my ability. After
the project commenced I soon realized that I had psyched myself out to much the
night before and the project was much easier to lead than I had expected.
Ultimately from this entire journey I’ve learned the value of leadership and
what it takes to lead a team.
