A Mystic Fire

The crackling fire left a glimmer in the man’s eyes.
For within this fire he saw a reflection of himself.
An image he regretted, yet no matter how much he tried looking away, the fire lured him in like a predator seeking its prey.
In a way the fire gave him pleasure along with regret.
It was this curiosity that drew him in closer to the crackling fire and as he got closer and closer he grew colder.
Yet as he drew away from the fire he became warmer.
Decisions had to be made.
He put out the fire and walked away a better man.

A Year in Review: Giving Thanks

2014, where to begin?  It hard to believe, that we've nearly reached the end. So much has happened already this year and I am grateful for those who made it possible. For starters I'd like to thank my Mom and Dad for helping me apply to college. They were always the one driving force that motivated me to go to college. They went with me to all my college tours and supported me along the way. If was not for them I am not exactly sure whether or not I would've gotten into my dream college.  In addition, many thanks to Ms. Mello, along with Mr. Tarlin and all the other people who helped me with improving my college essays.

I would also like to thank everyone down at Flyer News, my high school television studio. Without them I do not think that I would've been able to make a documentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB1hRfCWuvU) to the quality that I did. With the guidance of Mr. Lin, I was able to learn more than I ever thought possible. Along the way he gave me tips and tricks when it came to shooting the documentary.  I appreciated his mentorship and couldn't have asked for anything more. In addition, to Mr. Lin I'd like to thank Ken. Whenever I needed help with anything technical he was always there to help me out. Primarily when it came to video editing he taught me some of the basic principles that I will continue to build on for the years to come.

In June ,when I graduated from high school all my uncles and aunts drove cross country from MN just to see me. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am for them coming. It really made my graduation experience a whole lot more memorable. Special thanks to other family and friends that came as well, we certainly all had a blast!

Finally I'd like to thank my public relations professor, Kirk Hazlet. When I came to Curry I was unsure of myself and was extremely nervous. I remember going into my first Wednesday class with him and I was taken aback by his enthusiasm for public relations. In many ways he is very contagious and will do almost anything to lure you onto joining the "dark side" as he puts it. Although I have only taken one class with him I look forward to the future as he counties to inspire and motivate me into becoming a public relations professional down the road.

The Accumlation of One's Life

In many ways, one can consider the course of life a lot like going to high school or going to college.
When we get right out of high school, we are a freshman.
We are introduced to the adult world, where money and responsibility become integral in our day to day lives.
It's at this point in our lives that we vary from others, each taking an individual path.
Once we get our first job we are a sophomore.
While we do have some basic understanding of how the world works and revolves, we are still fairly inexperienced and may still need some guidance.
Whether this guidance comes from our parents, friends or a mentor its a big part of shaping us into who we will become.
By the time we have become juniors, we have a clear sense of who we are and what direction to head in.
While there is still a large road ahead, we've overcome various obstacles or challenges that have shaped us into who we are at that present moment.
As a senior we have an accumulation of different experiences, thoughts, beliefs, obstacles and relationships.
It is at this point in our lives that we look back on our lives and determine whether we believe that we led a successful life.
For some of us the answer might be plain and simple, while for the rest of us we can't really decided whether or not we were successful or not.
Regardless though, although we may not realize it, we are a mentor to the present and coming generations.
Everything that has happened to us has taught us something about ourselves.
These events shaped us into a stronger person.
Therefore as a senior, it is our responsibility to share what we have learned throughout the course of our lives, in hopes that our children lead a better life than we could have ever imagined.

I will love you every step of the way....

As I step out into the sun light, I see the world as it is.
Then I turn around and I see you.
A beautiful girl, so elegant and charming.
Like the leaves in the fall your beauty is but only peaking.
However, instead of falling to the ground like all leaves do, your beauty is preserved within the moment.
Much like a frozen icicle dangling from the rooftops.
The sun shines through you as you glimmer with each coming day.
Yet knowing that you'll be there with me every step of the way gives me pure joy and satisfaction.
And when I turn back around and see the world as it is, I'll know that I can step into the world and be a better man than I ever was.

Our Dreams

One step at a time I believe that we can see the world.
We can explore what has not yet been discovered or seen.
Our imagination is the only limit that could hold us back.
If we wished to go to the moon, we could.
If we wished to lie in a field like a stray flower, we could.
Your dreams are my dreams and together we will aspire to achieve what seems impossible.
Along the way we will stop and help those in need.
We will build houses, bridges and cities but only leave behind foot prints.
For there is no due credit or recognition we seek.
We are simply living out our wildest dreams and that's all we could ever ask for.
