A Real Victory

Have you ever achieved something and it was not until afterwards; that you realize the significance of this achievement or the impact it would have on your life or future?
For me getting my eagle scout award was just that.
At first I was glad that I had finally completed the project and it hadn't yet occurred to me what this achievement really meant.
Yesterday was when I realized the significance of this award, and it was not until then that my eyes were opened to a whole new world.
At the court of honor itself; there were many people but there was 120 people more than I had expected honestly given it be to a holiday weekend.
When I saw the amount of people who had came not only for me but for the other scouts was when it began to occur to me how much this eagle award really meant.
I don't really know why it took so long for it's significance to sink in, but I think it was just because I was so overwelhmed with emotion that I hadn't really thought about what it would mean for me in the future.
Everything you do in scouting has a greater purpose than what it was originally attended for and before you know it you'll be using a skill you acquired through your scouting career without knowing it.
As for the future I have plans to take on leadership positions and share what I've learned in scouting with those around me.
Also in the future if I ever have a son I want him to be able to experience scouting and get his eagle so that he to can get out of scouting as much as I have.
Ultimately scouting has changed me as a person and if weren't for scouting I wouldn't have became as a strong of a leader as I am today.
